This technology, originally developed in 2012 by Hans von Kaenel (Politecnico of Milano and ETH Zuerich) and Leonida Miglio (University of Milano-Bicocca), founders of the start-up company Pilegrowth Tech, is intended to doctor lattice-misfit defects and thermal-misfit wafer bowing with cracks in heteroepitiaxial depositions, as reported in different papers and patent families. This invention deserved to the authors the national prize SAPIO for the industrial research in 2014, with a nice cerimony at the Italian Senate. Along with the two scientists, founders of the start-up company were the industrial company LPE SpA and the Venture Capital companies TTVenture and ComoVenture. PGT was also a spin-off company of the University of Milano-Bicocca. After a period when the Swedish company Ascatron entered the society in place of  the Ventur Capital companies, LPE eventually acquired full control of Pilegrowth Tecch, but Leonida Miglio still remains the CTO. In 2021, the Venture Capital companies which invested in Pilegrowth Tech deserved the AIFI prize (Italian Association of Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Debt) for their investment in Pilegrowth Tech and Ascatron,
