Pilegrowth Tech is a start-up company aimed at engineering substrate solutions to the problems arising in heteroepitataxial growth with significant lattice misfit, or thermal misfit. The key aspect of the proprietary technology is the deep patterning of the substrate in micrometric pillar arrays, providing a maskless selective area epitaxy.  Deposition of self-aligned columns on-top of pillars, in case merging into a continuous suspended films under suitable growth conditions, can be pursued for microelectronic, optoelectronic, or power electronic applications. This engineering company is today fully owned by LPE SpA, one Italian  equipment-manufacturing company located at Baranzate, in the Milano area. Leonida Miglio, professor at the Department of Materials Science of the University of Milano-Bicocca, is presently the scientific director of PGT.
